VisitKeeper is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. Everything you enter stays on your device. We do not operate servers that store your contact or visit records.

1. What Data You Enter

VisitKeeper stores information you voluntarily enter, including:

2. Where Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database in the app's private storage. Photos are stored in the app's private file directory. None of this data is transmitted to VisitKeeper or any third party by default.

3. Location Data

VisitKeeper can capture your GPS coordinates, but only when you explicitly tap a "Capture GPS" button. Location is never collected automatically in the background. Captured coordinates are stored locally with the associated contact or visit record.

4. Maps and Address Lookup

VisitKeeper uses MapLibre to display map views in the app. By default, map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap-based sources. When you view the map, tile requests are sent based on your map position. These requests do not include your contact or visit data.

When satellite or hybrid view is enabled, map tiles are served by Esri (World Imagery). These requests are used only to load map imagery and do not include your contact or visit data. Please review Esri's privacy information for more details.

When you search for an address, the search query is sent to Nominatim (OpenStreetMap's geocoding service). Please review OpenStreetMap's privacy policy for details on how they handle these requests.

5. Google Sign-In (Optional)

VisitKeeper offers optional Google Sign-In, used solely to derive an encryption key for backup purposes. Signing in does not create an account with VisitKeeper, and we do not store or transmit your Google account information. If you choose not to sign in, all features remain available.

6. Backup and Export

You may optionally back up your data to a folder of your choosing on your device or connected storage. When a backup password is set, backup files are AES-256 encrypted using a key you control. Backups created without a password are stored as unencrypted files — you are strongly encouraged to use password protection for any backup containing sensitive data. You may also export individual contacts or your full contact list as .vkcontact files, with optional password protection. All backup and export operations are entirely user-initiated.

7. Crash Reporting

VisitKeeper uses Sentry for crash and error reporting. Sentry collects technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and error stack traces to help us diagnose and fix issues. Sentry does not receive your contact names, visit records, notes, or any personally identifiable information you enter into the app. You can review Sentry's privacy policy for more information.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Data may leave your device only when you explicitly:

In those cases, you choose the recipient and the sharing method. VisitKeeper has no involvement in or visibility into that transfer.

9. Data Deletion

You can delete individual contacts and visit records from within the app at any time. To remove all app data, clear the app's storage in your device settings or uninstall the app. Because VisitKeeper stores no data on external servers, there is no account or server-side data to request deletion of.

10. Children

VisitKeeper is not intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. The app is a professional tool for adults working with people in their care.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify users within the app. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
